We sought to better understand what you have done up to this point in regards to a online footprint and outreach to potential employees. When using the keywords “Jackson Realty Indiana” to find information on the company through Google search, we found their website with updated information, a Facebook profile with no content, and a Buzzfile.com profile for the company.

One important resource for our group on compiling research for Jackson Realty & Builders Company was the Indiana University Purdue University Indianapolis(IUPUI) Library Database. As students of IUPUI, we have reserved access to this source. Because it is a secure system, those not attending IUPUI cannot access the information provided from this database. But because it is secured, it is a very reliable and trusted academic resource. We used this database for the majority of our research and findings.

We used Google for some of the research. It was used primarily to gather information that wouldn’t be covered in scholarly articles. The key terms used in finding sources on Google were “benefits of an intern”, “how to start an internship program”, “how to hire an intern for a small business”, and “internship leading to job”. We used Google as it produced more than 177,000,000+ results for each of the key terms searched.

We conducted a local survey on IUPUI students to present Jackson’s Realty with the most updated and valid information as it relates to students in the Midwest,. We targeted students who were pursuing a bachelor's degree in Construction Engineering Management Technology, Organizational Leadership and Supervision, Electrical Engineering, and Mechanical Engineering. We also considered students pursuing a certificate in Construction Management. On the IUPUI Construction Engineering Management Technology website, a report titled “Graduation Rates, Employment Statistics, and Internship Data” which was compiled in 2017, states that Project Manager and Construction Superintendent are positions that graduating undergraduates seek (Graduation Rates, Employment Statistics, and Internship Data, 2017).

We used Google Forms to create a survey and distributed it through each member’s personal connections and through Facebook groups created for each graduating class. We decided the question was going to break the students into different demographics like major, age etc. while also getting responses to questions about their social media usage and job search.
We wanted to see how many students use or has previously used social media to find internships or jobs. We also wanted to see the social media that they used for job searches.
